Exercise Physiology is an Allied Health Profession that focuses on the delivery of exercise, lifestyle and behavioural modification programs to help prevent and manage chronic disease and injury. Exercise Physiologist work within hospitals and private clinics and are eligible for both Medicare and Private Health Rebates. The Graduate Diploma in Clinical Exercise Physiology will give you the skills and ability to develop, implement and manage physical activity and behavioural programs for healthy clients, and clients living with a range of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, depression, cancer, arthritis, respiratory disease and many others. As a Murdoch Clinical Exercise Physiology student you will gain practical experience in our purpose built, state-of-the-art facilities that include a dedicated exercise physiology laboratory, a rehabilitation and strength and conditioning laboratory, and a performance laboratory, complete with a 3D motion capture system and a 50 meter running track. Our supportive learning environment and small class sizes mean you can really get to know your lecturers and benefit from their skills and experience. This course will extend your foundational knowledge of the structure and function of the human body gained during the completion of a relevant Bachelor's degree. The information and training in this postgraduate offering will help you apply this foundational knowledge to a range of clinical populations. The degree of Graduate Diploma in Exercise Physiology will be awarded at the completion of the 1-year (full-time) program. Following course accreditation, you will qualify as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP). In addition to pursuing a rewarding career as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist, you could also pursue opportunities as a Sports Scientist, Sport and Recreation Officer, Sports Development Officer or Community Education Officer in a range of settings, including sports academies, institutes of sports, university sport science labs and professional and amateur sporting clubs. You will also be eligible to embark on a Master's degree, following one further year of study.

Standard entry requirements

Entry into this course is restricted to those completing the requirements of an accredited (through ESSA: Exercise and Sports Science Australia) Exercise Science degree with a minimum GPA of 2.0 (or institution equivalent). Specific to Murdoch University (internal) students: Entry into this course is restricted to those maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.0 (or equivalent course weighted average mark) and completing all units within the BSc (Movement Science) and BSc (Sport and Health Science). This course does have a quota, therefore the minimum GPA may not guarantee entry into the course and the indicative GPA may vary from year to year.
