Accounting is an integral part of the management and governance of any enterprise. It acts as a decision-making aid by providing the information necessary for planning, control and performance evaluation. The stakeholders of an entity rely on accounting information to assist in a variety of decisions including the acquisition or sale of shares, lending of funds and the provision of services or goods. In this course, you will undertake qualitative and quantitative research projects that are team-based, praxis-oriented and closely aligned to industry. Industry partners range from those in the government sector and mining resources industry to accounting firms, IT service firms and real estate companies. You will be taught by experts in the field, benefiting from their real-world industry experience. Our teaching faculty have won teaching excellence awards, secured grant funding from CPA Australia, published journal articles and have active involvement in the industry. This course is accredited by CPA Australia and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and New Zealand (CAANZ). On completion, you'll satisfy the entry requirements for admission to membership of the professional accounting bodies, including associate membership of CPA Australia, and direct entry into the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia CA Programme. If you have been granted credit for previous study this may affect your eligibility for admission to the professional accounting bodies, so please speak with your Academic Chair.

Bachelor degree or higher; or equivalent training; or professional training; students who have completed a degree with an accounting major from an Australian university will not be considered for admission; English competence

Named after the prominent Australian academic and essayist Sir Walter Murdoch, Murdoch was the second university established in Western Australia. Since the first intake of students in 1975, Murdoch has become a dynamic, modern university with a national reputation for excellence in teaching, research and student satisfaction.

Murdoch university has three campuses. The main campus is on South Street in Murdoch and is an easy commute from the Perth CBD and Fremantle, whilst the Rockingham and Peel campuses are located further south of Perth. All three campuses are well serviced by public transport, parking and bike racks.
