North Melbourne Language & Learning Inc
Established in 1989 through the work of visionary North Melbourne residents, North Melbourne Language and Learning (NMLL) is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), a Learn Local organisation and a Neighbourhood Centre, situated in the North Melbourne Public Housing Estate. NMLL’s principal aim is to support, encourage and empower local culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities in engaging with all aspects of community life, through:• Delivering foundation English language courses• Initiating a range of innovative community development initiatives focused on engagement and empowerment • Targeting needs-based vocational training.Furthermore, NMLL: • Delivers accredited and pre-accredited English courses and the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)• Delivers pre- accredited digital literacy courses and courses addressing the needs of the local community such as the micro-business course • Initiates community development and engagement activities that address community needs and aspirations, utilising strengths and assets within the community.• As the lead agency of the North Melbourne Agency Collective (NAC), NMLL works to further develop the capacity of local agencies and services to better meet the needs of the local communities • Advocates for Migrant & Refugee CALD communities to all levels of government.
