This qualification is part of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge which underpin a range of work functions and job roles that can lead to a horticultural trade qualification.

Structure:

15 units: 2 core; 13 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Participate in OHS processes; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices. Electives: Recognise plants; Apply a range of treatments to trees; Perform above ground pruning; Operate and maintain chainsaws; Undertake stump removal; Operate a mobile chipper/mulcher; Assist with landscape construction work; Install aggregate paths; Lay paving; Install tree protection devices; Prepare and maintain plant displays; Transplant small trees; plus more.

Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges (QATC) is part of the fabric of Australian agriculture.  We are located throughout Queensland - at Longreach Pastoral College and Emerald Agricultural College as well as training hubs across the State.

Our range of courses caters for high school students, school-leavers, career changers, and even those already in the agricultural workforce seeking to upskill or gain formal recognition of existing skills.

We also offer an alternate pathway for Year 11 and 12 students to achieve a QCE, agricultural certificates and CQUniversity study credit. Our partnership with CQUniversity provides a hands-on tertiary education.
