Queensland Agricultural Training Colleges

This qualification is part of the Agriculture, Horticulture and Conservation and Land Management Training Package. It provides an entry level occupational outcome in shearing. It recognises the work of an improver shearer who is able to shear sheep to an acceptable industry standard. The shearing industry expects this qualification to be achieved to meet job outcomes at this level.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


9 units: 8 core; 1 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Participate in OHS processes; Crutch sheep; Shear sheep to novice level; Shear sheep to improver level; Grind combs and cutters for machine shearing; Prepare handpiece and downtube for machine shearing; Work effectively in the industry; Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices. Plus electives.
