This double degree will give you a solid understanding of how business and psychological influences impact on organisations. Your knowledge of human behaviour and its role in organisational environments will prepare you for many professional roles. If you are aiming for a managerial career in business, you will develop the skills necessary to face the increasingly high demands of training and change management.

Structure

The course is 384 credit points comprised of 16 Psychology units and 16 Business units (8 core business units and 8 core units from a business major) . Students will complete an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) accredited program of study in Psychology.

Standard entry requirements

  • Year 12 or equivalent
  • Before you start this course, we assume you have sound knowledge of the subject/s listed below. If you don't have the subject knowledge, you can still apply for the course but we strongly encourage you to undertake bridging studies to gain the knowledge: English, or Literature, or English and Literature Extension, or English as an Additional Language (Units 3 & 4, C). And for Accounting, Finance, Economics and Marketing majors: General Mathematics, or Mathematical Methods, or Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C).

Recognition

The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council. To pursue a career in a professional area of psychology, you will need to undertake further study to gain registration with the Psychology Board of Australia. Subject to choice of Business major and units: CPA Australia; Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand and Institute of Public Accountants. Account Planning Group Australia, the Australasian Writers and Art Directors Association, the Australian Direct Marketing Association, the Communications Council, Youngbloods and nGen. Economics Society of Australia. Financial Services Institute of Australasia. Australian Human Resources Institute, Society of Human Resource Management (USA), Australian Institute of Management and the Australian Institute of Training and Development. Study pathways

Students considering registration with Psychology Board of Australia must also complete an approved fourth year of study in psychology, (e.g. Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours Psychology) and a further 2 years of either supervised work experience or completion of an appropriate higher degree (e.g. Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental), Master of Clinical Psychology. Students may be able to claim credit for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes.
