This double degree combines skills in two complementary areas, which will enable students to apply psychological principles to the field of justice. The Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology) provides the first step towards a career as a registered psychologist and an excellent foundation for careers in a wide range of related areas. The course provides a broad foundation in the science of psychology and its application, developing the ability to understand and apply psychological principles to personal, social, and organisational issues, as well as high-level communication and social research skills that are valuable in a wide range of professions. The Bachelor of Justice equips graduates for a wide variety of employment in the criminal justice, government (state and federal), law enforcement and policing and intelligence fields.

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed Knowledge: English (4,SA)


384 credit points. Bachelor of Behavioural Science, 192 cps consisting of: 12 core, 4 electives; Bachelor of Justice, 192 cps, consisting of: 8 core, 8 from Study Area A. Students can choose a major in Criminology and Policing or Policy and Governance.

Study Pathways:

Pathways to postgraduate degrees are available. Students considering registration with Psychology Board of Australia must also complete an approved fourth year of study in psychology (e.g. Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Honours Psychology) and a further 2 years of either supervised work experience or completion of an appropriate higher degree (e.g. Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental), or Master of Clinical Psychology. Justice graduates may wish to study Bachelor of Justice Honours program provided they meet course requirements. Students may be able to claim advanced standing for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes. QUT advanced standing rules apply.

The Behavioural Science component of the program comprises a 3-year psychology sequence accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC).
