This double degree increases career options across design and urban development fields. The design program embraces current industry trends, with a strong focus on human-centred design. Studio experiences provide heightened design opportunities for industry/consumer-informed bespoke (hyper-tailored) systems, products and/or services. Students will develop visualisation skills, effective use of discipline relevant technology and acquire essential career self-management skills. Work Integrated Learning (WIL) and international exchanges provide opportunities to network and receive first-hand industry experience. The Urban Development (Honours) program educates students make positive contributions to the evolving world of built environment. Each major is designed to deliver an adaptable, innovative and work-ready graduate able to apply sound judgement and expertise in practice in their chosen field. Throughout the course students will experience a range of site visits and fieldwork that will link the theory in lectures to everyday situations in their chosen field of study.

Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed knowledge: English (4,SA); Construction management - Year 12 or equivalent; Assumed knowledge: English (4,SA); Maths A, B or C (4,SA)

Structure:

480 credit points. Design component: 192 credit points (16 units); 4 core units and 12 major units. Urban Development (Honours) component: 288 credit points.

Subjects you can Study:

Architecture; Construction management; Interior architecture; Landscape architecture; Urban and regional planning. Not all combinations of majors are permitted.

Study Pathways:

On successful completion of the Bachelor of Design (Architecture), students will be eligible to apply for entry into the Master of Architecture. Upon completion of the Master of Architecture and the required period of practical experience, graduates are eligible to sit for registration as an architect in Australia. Pathways to Master of Teaching (Secondary) and Master of Philosophy are also available. Students may be able to claim advanced standing for part of their course, on the basis of completed or partially completed studies, and other assessable learning outcomes.

Architecture: This course, along with the following Master of Architecture course, has received full accreditation from the Architects Accreditation Council of Australia, and full recognition from the Australian Institute of Architects. Graduates qualify for membership of the Design Institute of Australia (DIA), the professional body for Australian designers. Interior architecture: Design/Interior Architecture Educators' Association of Australia and New Zealand (IDEA. Urban Development: The Australian Institute of Building; The Australian Institute of Quantity Surveyors; The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors; The Board of Quantity Surveyors Malaysia; The Planning Institute of Australia.
