This program aims to develop competent professionals in a range of human service roles such as community development worker, welfare worker, counsellor, child care officer, disability services worker, correctional counsellor or community correctional officer.

Further information:

Blue Card and Hepatitis B vaccination prior to commencing the placement components in this course. Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Rubella, Tetanus and Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations are mandatory for all students attending a Queensland Health facility for placement. Hepatitis A, Influenza and Poliomyelitis are highly recommended for all Health students. QUT offers a range of scholarships that provide real support for students. Applicants who receive an OP 1-5 or equivalent are guaranteed an offer for this course in the major offer round.

Recognition:

Graduates are eligible to apply for membership of the Australian Community Workers Association (ACWA).
