This program aims to equip medical science or health science graduates to pursue a career in paramedic science with advanced standing. Paramedics are employed in ambulance services to minimise pain, suffering and loss of life for patients in need of pre-hospital care, emergency medical response and specialised transportation.
Structure
- This course offers a pathway for applicants with a bachelor degree. Students are awarded the equivalent of one year of advanced standing (credit) and complete the course in two years of full-time study. 192 credit points
- 13 core units and 3 clinical practice units. Students complete 18 weeks of clinical practice across the 3 years

Standard entry requirements
A recognised bachelor degree in medical science or a health science-related field completed in the past 10 years. Note: Admission into this course is based on prior study in addition to a selection rank.

Current Senior First Aid certificate; plus requirements for QAS: criminal history check; health-related fitness assessment; Hepatitis B vaccination. Diphtheria, Measles, Mumps, Pertussis (Whooping Cough), Rubella, Tetanus and Varicella (Chicken Pox) vaccinations are mandatory for all students attending a Queensland Health facility for placement. Hepatitis A, Influenza and Poliomyelitis are highly recommended for all Health students. QUT offers a range of scholarships that provide real support for commencing and continuing students.
