Certificate III in Racing - Advanced Stablehand

This qualification is part of the Racing Training Package. An advanced stablehand or stable foreman takes charge of daily operations in a thoroughbred or harness racing stable. The advanced stablehand works to the delegated instructions of the trainer who has overall responsibility for the enterprise. However, an advanced stablehand is permitted under the Rules of Racing to act for the trainer on race days. An employee in this role works independently with limited supervision in a range of areas across a defined range of skills where they are required to use judgement, interpret information, apply solutions to various problems and be responsible for their own outputs.

22 units: 19 core; 3 elective

Established in 1995, Racing Queensland is a Registered Training Organisation. Racing Queensland is the control body for all three codes of racing and its training arm aims to provide training to the Queensland Thoroughbred racing industry through apprenticeships (jockey), traineeships (stablehands and trackriders) and short courses for the Greyhound and Harness industries.
