This double degree combines the latest in mechatronics technologies, systems engineering and additive manufacturing with international business studies and high-level financial and economic analysis. As an RMIT engineering and business student, you'll be able to design and manufacture mechanical devices and provide solutions, with the business know-how to succeed in the international market. You'll learn to design, build and operate smart systems in aerospace, automotive, food processing and electronics industries and oversee the development of large-scale, global manufacturing facilities. With studies in international business you'll be able to perform high-level financial and economic analyses with a global perspective. Graduates with engineering and international business skills will advance their careers quickly and may find work in multinational companies as executives in supply chain and procurement.

Entry Requirements:

Current Year 12 prerequisite units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 25 in Mathematical Methods (CAS) and a study score of at least 25 in any English (except EAL) or at least 30 in English (EAL).


Year 1 - You'll study a mix of courses in basic engineering sciences and business principles. Years 2 and 3 - You'll complete courses in areas such as electronics, computing, mechatronics, supply chain and marketing. Year 4 - You'll cover some of the details of engineering systems, learn processes and capabilities required to work as an engineering professional, and build management skills for leading large-scale operations. You'll also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 2, 3 or 4. Year 5 - Your final-year (capstone) project will develop and reinforce the skills and knowledge you need to commence your professional engineering career. The project allows you to demonstrate your knowledge of creating new mechatronics systems and applying your business knowledge to explore new markets for your innovation.

Study Pathways:

Graduates of the Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (Mechanical) or equivalent, who have been successful in gaining a place, may apply for exemptions. Students with an engineering background from other countries will be considered on a case-by-case basis.


Accredited by Engineers Australia - graduates are eligible to apply for graduate membership. Australian registered engineers are recognised and able to practise overseas through the Washington Accord.
