As an RMIT engineering and business management double degree student, you'll combine technical computer and network engineering solutions with the core knowledge required to successfully manage modern organisations. You will gain skills in the design, implementation, integration and application of programmable and/or reconfigurable computers/devices or computer-based systems. By combining your technical computer and network skills with business management knowledge you'll be equipped to devise engineering solutions that make businesses more productive and competitive. You'll be able to work with organisations to improve an existing product and/or a system, or integrate more than one system so that the whole works more efficiently. You'll be prepared for the workplace via hands-on experience in our well-equipped laboratories. You'll also gain real world experience through engineering work experience.

Entry Requirements:

Current Year 12 prerequisite units 3 and 4 - a study score of at least 20 in one of Mathematical Methods (any) or Specialist Mathematics; and a study score of at least 25 in any English (except EAL) or at least 30 in English (EAL).


Years 1, 2 and 3 The first three years of this program look at the fundamentals of computer and network engineering, mathematics, physics and business management. All courses emphasise professional and personal development, allowing you to build your skills in communication, decision-making and team leading. Years 4 and 5 In your final years of study you can specialise in computer or network engineering by choosing from a wide range of technical electives that will deepen your technical knowledge, enrich your skill set and develop your engineering capabilities. Your final-year (capstone) project will develop and reinforce the skills and knowledge you need - as defined by Engineers Australia - to commence your professional engineering career. You'll also complete a work-integrated learning (industry experience) elective in Year 4 or 5.

This program is fully accredited by Engineers Australia. Graduates of the program are eligible for graduate membership of Engineers Australia. Full membership as a professional engineer may be obtained after an appropriate period of professional practice. Australia is one of 15 countries that are signatories to the International Engineering Alliance, also known as the Washington Accord, for professional engineers. The qualification of graduates from this degree is recognised in all countries that are signatories to the Accord.
