This program is interdisciplinary and focuses on design application, theory, new technologies and global business practices as they relate to the graphic design industry. The design aspect of the program focuses on critical, strategic and innovative problem solving, while providing students with the knowledge to become a leader in their industry. The business part looks at strategic planning, knowledge management, global communication and culture. The program enables designers to function effectively in the global business world. It will equip them with the ability to understand the client's business and market, do strategic planning, research and project management, and operate an efficient business.


144 credit points. This incorporates the Graduate Diploma (96 credit points).

Standard entry requirements

  • Successfully completed an Australian Bachelor degree (or equivalent overseas qualification)
  • Or at least 3 years professional experience in graphic design, communication design and/or visual communication area.


Graduates are eligible to become members of the Australian Graphic Design Association, Design Institute of Australia, Design Business Council, and International Council of Graphic Design Associations.

Study pathways

Applicants with a Bachelor Honours degree, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or Masters degree qualification majoring in a different discipline may also be eligible for exemption of up to 48 credit points (equivalent to one semester full time study).
