This program provides a new pathway for all primary health care practitioners and science graduates (clinical diagnosis is required) to qualify for Chinese herbal medicine practice. The program covers studies on theory and practice on Chinese herbal medicine, medicinal chemistry, botany, pharmacology and toxicology as well as clinical practice. In addition, herb-drug interaction and relevant research training will be provided in an integrative approach throughout the program. It is anticipated that graduates from the program will meet requirements set by the Chinese Medicine Registration Board of Victoria and equivalent accrediting bodies in other states. The program will be delivered via intensive face-to-face workshops, online learning and supervised clinical practicum.

Standard entry requirements

An Australian bachelor's degree in health sciences that satisfies the following prerequisites: cell biology (bioscience) human physiology human anatomy (full body) pathology immunology microbiology clinical practice diagnosis in Western medicine.

Recognition

Chinese Medicine Board of Australia. The program is also recognised by the Australian Natural Therapists Association (ANTA) and the Federation of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture Societies of Australia Inc (FCMA).
