The professional accounting program provides students with both practical and theoretical knowledge, skills and expertise to enable them to become literate and analytical practitioners in accounting. They are designed for graduates of non-accounting disciplines, who wish to broaden their career prospects.

Entry Requirements:

An Australian bachelor degree or equivalent, or higher level qualification, in a business-related discipline* from a recognised tertiary institution; or RMIT Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting.

Structure:

Studies may include: Introduction to Financial Accounting; Financial Decision Making; Business Law; Economic Analysis for Business; Corporations Law; Management and Cost Accounting; Accounting for Corporations; Quantitative Methods for Accounting; Auditing and Assurance Services; Taxation Law and Practice; Contemporary Accounting Thought; Strategic Information Systems and Accounting.

Study Pathways:

Upon successful completion of the Graduate Certificate in Professional Accounting students will be admitted to the Master of Professional Accounting which requires the successful completion of a further 8 courses.

Recognition:

Associate membership: CPA Australia; the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia; the Institute of Public Accountants. Students must meet the chosen professional body's qualification program to gain full membership.
