SA Ambulance Service

This qualification is part of the Health Training Package. It reflects the role of workers who provide initial pre-hospital and out-of-hospital basic health care response and assessment to patients requiring urgent medical services. The provision of urgent clinical care includes providing basic life support. It applies to people working in a variety of roles including ambulance officers, patient transport officers, industrial medics and basic life support medics.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


16 units: 9 core; 7 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Manage a routine non-emergency scene; Assess and deliver basic clinical care; Manage personal stressors in the work environment; Confirm physical health status; Communicate in complex situations to support health care; Comply with infection prevention and control policies and procedures; Follow procedures for routine safe removal of patient; Follow safe work practices for direct client care; Work with diverse people. Electives: Implement safe access and egress in an emergency; Transport emergency patients; Contribute to managing the scene of an emergency; Transport non-emergency patients under operational conditions; Work legally and ethically; plus more.
