Certificate III in Outdoor Recreation

This qualification is part of the Sport, Fitness and Recreation Training Package. It provides the skills and knowledge for an individual to be competent in guiding outdoor recreation activities in a controlled environment. It requires technical knowledge of the outdoor recreation activity to be transferred to allow individuals to safely participate in the outdoor activity. It does not provide the skills and knowledge to impart the required level of technical knowledge and expertise to allow participants to independently undertake outdoor recreation activities.

Entry Requirements:

Certificate II in Outdoor Recreation or equivalent

Structure:

24 units: 12 core; 12 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Organise personal work priorities and development; Provide first aid; Plan outdoor recreation activities; Guide outdoor recreation sessions; Minimise environmental impact; Interpret weather conditions in the field; Facilitate groups; Provide customer service; Respond to emergency situations; Follow OHS policies; Undertake risk analysis of activities; Provide work skill instruction. Electives: Apply single pitch abseiling skills on artificial surfaces; Guide bushwalks in a controlled environment; Guide canoeing trips on flat and undemanding water; Demonstrate caving skills; Apply climbing skills on natural surfaces; Guide on-road cycle tours; plus more.
