This qualification is part of the Printing and Graphic Arts Training Package. It applies applies to individuals who typically set up and operate letterpress, lithographic, flexographic, gravure printing presses, digital printers or screen printers and work on a range of printed products. They prepare material, monitor and run equipment and machinery and apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems. They may also provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

No minimum education; Prerequisite units may apply for some electives.


21 units: 4 core; 17 elective

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Participate in environmentally sustainable work practices; Inspect quality against required standards; Maintain a safe work environment; Communicate in the workplace. Electives: Develop knowledge of the printing and graphic arts industry; Produce basic lithographic printed product; Set up for foil stamping; Select and apply type; Manually produce basic screen prints; Prepare ink and additives; Set up machine for complex laminating; Produce gravure cylinders electronically; Manipulate 3D files in preparation for 3D printing; plus more.
