This course develops an understanding of education, equipping students to become teachers who utilise the latest technology and teaching techniques to engage children across a range of subject disciplines. Through collaborative group activities and school based practical placements students develop the skills to design engaging and effective learning experiences. Students are taught to identify and address diversity; tailoring the learning experience to the needs of their learners.
- 400 credit points comprising: 28 Core units (350 credit points)
- 4 elective units (50 credit points). In addition, students are responsible for arranging and successfully completing the National Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE) normally within three attempts through the Australian Council for Education Research prior to completing 200 credit points of study.

Standard entry requirements
Year 12 or equivalent: VCE prerequisites: Units 3 and 4: a minimum study score of 25 in English (or equivalent) or 30 in English (EAL). All applicants must maintain a current Working with Children Check and a current Police Check throughout the duration of the program.
This course meets the academic requirements outlined by the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT). VIT recognition enables graduates to register as a teacher Australia-wide. On completion of an Education degree, all Teachers must register with the appropriate teacher body. Any criminal offence or proceedings need to be declared as part of the registration process. If you have any concerns about your future eligibility please discuss this with your relevant teacher registration body.
Pathways allow students to progress from one qualification to another where the first course is recognised as an entry requirement and/or provides advanced standing to the second. Credit is granted in recognition of previous study and/or experience and allows students to gain advanced standing towards their course. Applicants are assessed on a case-by-case basis.
