This course provides you with the essential teaching and learning skills required to pathway into an undergraduate teacher education program. Language, literacy and numeracy skills are strengthened to prepare you for LANTITE testing in the Bachelor programs. You will also develop fundamental knowledge of the education environment, inclusive education, the teaching profession and approaches to learning in the context of early childhood, primary and secondary schooling. Units in this course prepare you for work in an educational setting including foundational skills in teaching and supporting student learning in a range of educational contexts. A three week placement at a primary or secondary school setting allows you to practice developing skills in supporting student learning, and consolidate your commitment to entering the education profession.

- Must successfully complete a total of 12 units comprising: 9 core units
- 1 unit from the education practice stream
- 2 elective units
Standard entry requirements
Must have the following indicators of readiness to enter an ITE (Initial Teacher Education) program: A minimum of Year 12 completion with: Satisfactory completion of any mathematics Units 1 & 2 and satisfactory completion of English or English (EAL) Units 3 & 4
