The Graduate Certificate of Information Technology course is concerned with the development of theoretical knowledge and practical skills related to the design, construction, operation, support and maintenance of information technology (IT) solutions. This course will provide students with a sample of entry-level skills which introduce techniques used in the design and construction of IT solutions. Students will gain specialist skills and become capable of working with some information technology solutions at an entry level. This course provides graduates with knowledge and skills allowing them to seek semi-professional work in field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and as a pathway for further learning. On successful completion of the Graduate Certificate of Information Technology, students may progress to the Graduate Diploma of Information Technology, and will be given full credit for the units completed.

Entry Requirements:

A recognised Bachelor degree that has few or no studies in information technology (with IT content comprising less than one third of the degree). English language requirements - satisfactory completion of one of the following: Swinburne's English for Academic Purposes (EAP 5 Advanced level) with overall 70%, all skills 65%; minimum IELTS overall band of 6.5 (Academic Module) with no individual band below 6.0; TOEFL iBT (internet-based) minimum score of 79 with a reading band no less than 18 and writing band no less than 20; Pearson (PTE) minimum score of 58 (no communicative skills less than 50); any other equivalent assessment of English language proficiency. Note: A prerequisite for many courses, the Pearson Test of English Academic (PTE Academic) can now be done on campus in Hawthorn.
