This qualification is part of the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Training Package. It is for people who want to acquire a range of technical and theoretical skills needed to work in a production oriented environment within the clothing and fashion industry. Depending on the electives selected, students will learn about different areas of the clothing and fashion industry, including production processes such as laying cutting, machining, garment construction, pressing and finishing; identifying and selecting fabrics; introductory design theory and pattern modification.

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Identify fibres and fabrics; Follow defined OH&S policies and procedures; Apply quality standards; Work in the textiles, clothing and footwear industry. Electives: Identify fabric performance and handling requirements; Prepare and produce sewn garment; Perform garment repairs and alterations; Press whole garments; Lay-up and cut complicated fabrics and lays; Assemble bra or swimwear; Embellish garment by hand or machine; Set and produce digital embroidery; Develop patterns from a block using basic patternmaking principles; Sew woven and stretch knit garments; Contribute to garment production process improvements; Make marker for complicated fabrics and lays; Interpret patterns and apply pattern information; Interact and communicate with garment production personnel; plus more.
