Certificate II in Clothing Production - Intermediate (07)


This qualification is part of the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear Training Package. It is for people who want to acquire a limited range of technical theoretical skills needed to work in a production-oriented environment within the clothing and fashion industry. Depending on the electives selected, students will learn about different areas of the clothing and fashion industry, including production processes such as laying cutting, machining, garment construction, pressing and finishing; identifying and selecting fabrics; introductory design theory and pattern modification.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education. Must have access to industry specific plant and equipment to complete some of the modules.


10 units: 3 core, 5 specialist and 2 elective units

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Follow defined OH&S policies and procedures; Apply quality standards; Work in the Textiles, Clothing and Footwear industry. Electives: Use a sewing machine; Provide hand sewing and finishing support; Identify fibres and fabrics; Sew components; Use specialised machinery or processes to assist assembly production; Press work; Lay up, mark and cut uncomplicated fabrics and lays; Finish garment production; Despatch work; Modify patterns to create basic styles; Draw and interpret a basic sketch; Organise and plan own work in a home-based production environment; Block and shape headwear by machine; Pack, store, handle or despatch headwear; Finish headwear; Trim headwear; Access and use information resources for clothing production operations; Perform basic maintenance of headwear; plus more.
