This qualification reflects the role of shopfitters who construct or renovate high quality retail environments, including preparing walls and floors and fabricating, installing and finishing shopfronts, internal shopfitting units and partitions.Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement. Licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements apply to shopfitting in some States. Relevant state and territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway.

  • Apply and trim decorative additions to shopfittings and components

  • Carry out levelling operations
  • Fabricate synthetic solid surface products
  • Identify construction work hazards and select risk control strategies
  • Identify and apply information in construction plans, drawings and specifications
  • Install internal shop walls and fixtures
  • Process materials to produce components using static machines
  • Prepare shop floors for new coverings
  • Work safely on scaffolding higher than two metres
  • Investigate micro business opportunities
  • Calculate costs of construction work
  • Fabricate and assemble shopfront structures
  • Licence to operate a personnel and materials hoist
  • Demolish shopfronts and bulkheads
  • Install prefabricated internal shopfitting units
  • Assemble internal shopfitting units and prepare for transport
  • Install suspended ceilings
  • Measure and draw site layout for manufactured furniture products
  • Fabricate and install commercial glazing
