This qualification provides the skill and knowledge to work in the electricity supply industry (ESI) as a Cable Jointer.This qualification covers the laying, installation and maintenance of de-energised low voltage (LV) and high voltage (HV) underground polymeric cables and installation and maintenance of electrical equipment and jointing and maintaining energised LV underground paper insulated and polymeric cables. There are options for skills to be obtained for energised cables and/or LV and HV paper insulated cables.The skills and knowledge described within the units in this qualification may require a licence or permit to practice in the workplace.Additional and/or other conditions may also apply under state and territory legislative and regulatory licensing requirements which must be confirmed prior to commencing the qualification.

  • Licence to operate a vehicle loading crane (capacity 10 metre tonnes and above)
  • Licence to erect, alter and dismantle scaffolding intermediate level
  • Maintain network infrastructure electrical equipment
  • Conduct visual checking and treatment of power system poles and structures
  • Licence to operate a materials hoist
  • Licence to perform dogging
