This qualification reflects the role of individuals who work as beauty therapists to provide a range of beauty therapy treatments and services, including lash and brow treatments, nail services, make-up, massage and waxing. They communicate with clients to recommend treatments and services and sell retail skin care and cosmetic products. These individuals undertake work independently, with limited guidance from others, to perform routine and non-routine activities and solve non-routine problems. They apply and adapt technical skills and knowledge, and use judgment in the provision of beauty treatments and services. These individuals are responsible for their own outputs and provide limited guidance to others. Work is typically conducted in beauty salons and spas.No occupational licensing, certification or specific legislative requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication.

**ADDITIONAL RESOURCES**You will need to provide for yourself the following resources which you will keep when you complete your study:You will be required to purchase equipment/tools of trade, personal protective equipment (PPE) and a tunic, which is required to participate in practical classes. WH&S requirements for classes: You must wear closed in protective footwear and clothing that is clean and professional for the industry. Information on kits and tunics are provided at our information session and in our orientation book. Please call us on 02 4780 7804 should you have any questions.Non-compulsory items: TAFE NSW Hair & Beauty T-shirts are recommended and can be purchased at an approximate cost of $20. Please note that any essential equipment and other items that the student has the choice of acquiring from the provider, or from another supplier other than the provider, that become the physical property of the student, are retained by the student on completion of training, and are not consumed during the training.

The cost for specialist equipment for this course is approx. $150 which you will retain on completion of your training.Students are also required to wear closed in protective footwear and plain black pants or black skirt below the knee. A uniform/tunic will need to be purchased at a cost of approx $50 to wear in the simulated salon environment.
