This qualification is intended for assistant design and product development roles in the fashion industry, as well as assistant roles associated with managing fashion product as part of a fashion enterprise. Skills include design and product development, as well as technical production skills to support management and fashion businesses. Skills may be applied at various stages across the design, production and supply chain continuum, according to workplace roles and enterprise requirements. Outcomes allow for specialisation in fashion design and product development or business merchandising, as well as generalist roles.Skills involve the use of both manual and digital design tools, and may be applied at various stages of the supply chain. Design outcomes build on technical production skills and provide a basis for career progression to design or business management roles.This qualification offers a generic MST50116 Diploma of Applied Fashion Design and Merchandising, as well as two pathways targeting the skill requirements of fashion designer and fashion business management.
