TAFE SA

An Advanced Diploma of Translating will strengthen your bi-lingual capabilities by providing you with advanced training in translating a wide variety of texts, including business, commercial, technical, health, marketing and internet content. The course teaches translation skills in general and specialised areas, as well as the processes and practices necessary for quality service delivery. 5 core units plus 8 electives. The qualification is approved by the National Accreditation Authority for Translators and Interpreters (NAATI). Students who meet the NAATI requirements during the course will be recommended for NAATI Professional Translator accreditation at the end of the course.

Entry Requirements:

Written proficiency assessment in English and another language AND Satisfactory demonstration of reading, writing and numeracy skills by undertaking the Core Skills Profile for Adults (CSPA)

5 core plus 8 electives.

Core: Apply codes and standards to professional judgement; Negotiate translating and interpreting assignments; Analyse text types for translation of special purpose texts (LOTE-English); Quality assure translations; Edit texts. Elective: Translate special purpose texts from English to LOTE; Read and analyse special purpose English texts to be translated; Translate special purpose texts from LOTE to English; plus more.
