This qualification represents the base entry point into this sector of the seafood industry and provides people with a range of core and underpinning skills and knowledge relevant to work as a field hand in the aquaculture sector.

Structure:

4 core units plus 11 electives.

Subjects you can Study:

Core: Apply basic food handling and safety practices; Communicate in the seafood industry; Work effectively in the seafood industry; Meet workplace OHS requirements. Electives: Prepare animals for slaughter; Undertake routine maintenance of water supply and disposal systems and structures; Control predators and pests; Assemble and repair damaged netting; SCUBA dive in open water to a maximum depth of 18 metres; Transport, handle and store chemicals; Survive at sea in the event of vessel abandonment; plus more.
