Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (Honours)

Landscape Architecture provides an education in the design, management and resilience of natural and built landscapes to improve the quality and our experience of the environment. In this course students will gain the knowledge and skills to respond to complex issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss, urban ecology and water sensitive design by applying creative practice and systems thinking to develop long-term, multi-scale solutions. The Honours in Landscape Architecture provides an opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of this creative field while gaining essential research and professional knowledge and skills relevant to roles in various government and private professional design-based organisations. This programme includes core theoretical, technical, and professional content as well as two research based design studio units, in which students will undertake supervised research. Building on undergraduate studies in Landscape Architecture, the Honours component strengthens and expands theoretical and practical knowledge, and the advanced analytical, design and communication skills necessary to formulate solutions to challenges and produce creative landscape architecture outcomes. The course provides emphasis on ecological, cultural and social design considerations at global, regional and local scales. It can also serve as a pathway to further study through a higher degree by research, and open additional employment opportunities in industry, universities, or government organisations.
