Certificate III in Plumbing

Training Prospects

This qualification is part of the Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package. It provides a trade outcome in plumbing in roles such as plumber, gasfitter, drainer or roof plumber. There are six streams available: water, sanitary, drainage, mechanical services, roofing and gas services.

Entry Requirements:

No minimum education


Stream 1 Water (mandatory): 24 core; 5 elective; and Stream 2 Sanitary (mandatory): 6 core; 4 elective; plus units from the following streams: drainage, mechanical services, roofing and gas services.

Subjects you can Study:

Water stream core: Carry out interactive workplace communication; Read plans and calculate plumbing quantities; Work effectively in the plumbing and services sector; Carry out WHS requirements; Handle and store plumbing materials; Use plumbing hand and power tools; Carry out levelling; Mark out materials; Work safely on roofs; plus more. Sanitary stream core: Cut and join sheet metal; Locate and clear blockages; Plan layout of a residential sanitary plumbing system; Install discharge pipes; Fabricate and install sanitary stacks; Install and fit off sanitary fixtures. Plus units from the following streams: Drainage; Mechanical services; Roofing; Gas services. Plus electives.

Study Pathways:

This qualification is suitable for an Australian Apprenticeship pathway.

Further information:

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.
