Bachelor of Design (Interaction Design)

University of Canberra

Interaction Design (also known as IxD) is the practice of designing interactive digital products, environments, systems, services and products for use by people. Interaction designers are problem solvers who specialise in finding novel ways to help people access and interact with technology seamlessly. Designing for people involves understanding capabilities of humans in terms of emotion, perception and their cognitive ability. The focus of this specialisation major is to help students gain an understanding of human-centric interaction design principles, including key theories, concepts, tools and contemporary techniques to build human-centred interaction systems. The Interaction Design course provides students with excellent employment prospects. Employers are increasingly looking for creative problems solvers with leadership skills to envision new interactive products, systems, services and spaces for global markets. In addition, this course provides students with comprehensive knowledge and skills to launch their own Interaction Design business, or prepare them to take a lead in new areas of the industry that may not even exist yet.
