Master of Design for Performance

This program provides designers and visual artists with the needed skills for a professional career in designing scenery, props and/or costumers. Students gain hands-on experience designing for theatre, dance, music theatre, opera, and cross-art productions staged at the VCA and in the industry through professional placements.

Entry Requirements:

Undergraduate degree or equivalent, with a weighted average mark of at least 65% over the last two years' study; or at least four years' documented, relevant work experience related to design and/or making of live performance, with evidence of artistic ability and practice comparable to that expected of undergraduate degree holders in relevant disciplines; written statement (500 words); digital folio of work; selection project and interview.

Structure:

200 credit points including 12 subjects, including one year-long subject, Design Projects, plus Performance and Research Approaches; Design Documentation and Communication; Design Realisation and Collaboration; Graphic for Screens; Industry Investigation Project; Professional Practice; Applied Project A; Applied Project B.
