Faculty Opportunity Bursary (Faculty of Business and Economics)

Available through the generosity of an alumnus donor, the Faculty Opportunity Bursary is awarded annually to an Australian citizen or permanent resident entering the Bachelor of Commerce. It aims to assist a high achieving student who is in financial need or are otherwise disadvantaged. It encompasses a program to foster the academic and personal development of the recipients, through the ongoing support of the Commerce Opportunity Network.

Eligibility

To be eligible applicants must: Apply to commence the Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Melbourne through the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC); Submit an application for the Special Entry Access Scheme (SEAS) via VTAC; Meet the criteria and be eligible for the Access Melbourne Scheme; Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident; Be students who will be the first in their family to attend university; Not have a previous university qualification.

Amount $15,000

The Faculty Opportunity Bursary provides $15,000 per annum for the duration of the course (up to three years). Recipients will automatically be admitted into the Abernethy Scholars Program. This program provides an academic mentoring opportunity with Professor Margaret Abernethy, Sir Douglas Copland Chair of Commerce and former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics.
