Fay Marles Scholarship

The Fay Marles Scholarship is awarded to applicants wishing to undertake graduate research studies at the University of Melbourne who are of Indigenous Australian descent and/or who have had their tertiary studies adversely affected by personal circumstances.

Eligibility

Applicants must: have applied or be enrolled in a graduate research degree at the University of Melbourne; have completed tertiary studies that are at least equivalent to a 4 year Australian Honours degree with a minimum GPA of 75-79; be of Indigenous Australia descent and/or experience compassionate or compelling circumstances (e.g. illness, a disability, exceptional family responsibilities or involvement in a traumatic event that was beyond your control); and not have previously received a Fay Marles Scholarship.

Amount $26,682

The scholarship provides: a stipend of $26,682 per year (2016 RTP rate); a relocation allowance of up to $2,000 for students moving from interstate or $3,000 for students moving from overseas; and a thesis allowance of $420 for master students and $840 for PhD students. Tenure is for 2 years for master students and 3 years for PhD students, with a possible 6-month extension.
