Master of Strategic Organisational Development and Human Resource Management

The program is specifically designed to meet the needs of professionals who are either currently practising or wish to practise in the field of organisational development and/or human resource management. Students can learn to become: a leader in organisational and individual change and learning; gain understanding in what it takes to lead organisations to enact their strategic missions and to manage their human resources needs in complex and changing business environments; a strategic intervention specialist able to make decisions and implement solutions involving human resources and organisational structures through cutting edge analysis and diagnosis; an effective change agent capable of building and maintaining partnerships with key stakeholders to successfully manage change; and a critical thinker around ethical issues involved in organisational development and change.This program will develop a set of core competencies which will bring together human resource and organisational development themes and develop your understanding of strategic management issues. In addition, students can undertake electives in specialist subjects.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor qualification or above; or Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from UNE or its equivalent; or Masters qualification in a relevant discipline. All candidates must supply two referee reports from employers or senior coll eagues (on company letterhead) plus a resume; plus two years of full time equivalent relevant professional experience. Relevant disciplines may include, but is not limit ed to: Human Resources, Business or Management. Relevant professional experience refers to a position of responsibility in any organisational or industry context.


72 credit points (equivalent to 12 standard units) including core units, and a choice of elective units. A student's program of study and credit points for completion are determined by the qualification used as the basis for admission.

Students may be eligible for credit (advanced standing) for previously completed studies. An exit pathway is available for eligible students.

College accommodation

UNE’s residential accommodation currently consists of eight colleges and a village of self-contained units. Accommodation ranges from the more traditional college with meals included and shared bathroom facilities, to the more independent, self-contained flats at Wright Village and UNE’s new Wright College , which provides modern studio apartments complete with your own kitchen and bathroom facilities.
