Environmental engineers find sustainable solutions for complex environmental problems, including water pollution and soil erosion. They plan, manage and operate engineered systems so that society can co-exist with the environment in a sustainable way. They are experts in assessing whether the design and construction of a project will potentially damage the environment, and how this can be prevented.
Structure
- The Bachelor of Environmental Engineering (Honours) is a four year program, students are required to complete 320 units, which is comprised of: 260 units of Core courses
- 10 units of project Core courses
- 10 units of Environmental Engineering Directed courses
- and 40 units of Elective pathway courses.

Standard entry requirements
Year 12 or equivalent. Alternative entry pathways may include approved TAFE studies, preparatory programs such as Newstep, Open Foundation or Tertiary Preparation Certificate. Assumed knowledge: HSC Mathematics (Band 5 or above) or equivalent. One science-related subject would also be an advantage (Physics or Chemistry preferred). Applicants who have achieved less than Mathematics Band 5 may be admitted to the program but may need to complete additional study to successfully complete the requirements of the program. Students who have completed HSC Mathematics General 2 may be admitted to the program but can expect to undertake additional studies to successfully complete the requirements of the program.
