Information Technology (IT) is concerned with the use of technology in managing and processing information, especially in large organisations. In particular, IT deals with the use of electronic computers and computer software to convert, store, protect, process, transmit, and retrieve information. Students work on industry relevant tasks and case studies throughout the degree.

Entry Requirements:

Year 12 or equivalent. Alternative entry pathways may include approved TAFE studies, preparatory programs such as Newstep, Open Foundation or Tertiary Preparation Certificate. Assumed knowledge: any 2 units of English. Mathematics, while not essential, could be helpful in some majors.

Structure:

The Bachelor of Information Technology program is a 3 year program comprising 240 units, of which 100 units are core courses, 80 units are compulsory or directed courses, and 60 units are elective courses. The Bachelor of Information Technology may be awarded with Distinction on the basis of superior performance throughout the program.

Study Pathways:

Credit transfer agreements with TAFE NSW and other education providers are under continuous negotiation. A Bachelor of Information Technology (Honours) is also available to meritorious students, as an additional year of full-time or equivalent part-time study.

The Bachelor of Information Technology is recognised by the Australian Computer Society.
