Structure

The Bachelor of Nursing program offered by the University of Newcastle requires the completion of 240 units of approved courses, including: 190 units of core nursing courses; 20 units of core human bioscience courses; 10 units of core pharmacology courses; 10 units of core foundational Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander courses; and 10 units of electives.

Entry requirements

  • Previous Year 12 studies and/or Higher education, tertiary, post-secondary qualifications and/or Overseas qualifications considered equivalent to Australian qualifications.

Recognition

Our degree is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC). Graduates of this program are eligible to apply for registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia, under the National Registration and Accreditation Scheme administered by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

Study Pathways

Students holding a completed TAFE Diploma may be eligible for specified credit on application. An additional Honours year is available to students who achieve the required grade point average.
