Diploma in Engineering
Prepare for a career in Engineering as you gain a qualification. A diploma offers you the opportunity to upskill with a qualification. You will also receive guaranteed entry into over 70 degrees and up to 80 units of credit into related degrees. Develop your knowledge and skills in engineering through real world projects and problem-solving. The Diploma in Engineering gives you a taste of selected specialties to help you choose your Engineering pathway. Receive support from the Pathways team. You will have access to a dedicated Student Liaison Officer, a quiet workspace for study and courses with smaller class sizes.

Structure
In the Diploma in Engineering program students are required to complete 80 units (made up of 8 courses worth 10 units each), which is comprised of: 70 units of core courses; and 10 units of directed courses.

Entry requirements
- The University of Newcastle accepts a range of qualifications to determine eligibility for admission. These include, but are not limited to, Australian or overseas senior secondary qualifications (such as the HSC), prior tertiary studies, prior TAFE/VET studies, vocational/professional experience, and completed enabling programs. To be considered for admission, applicants must have an unadjusted ATAR (or equivalent) of 50 or above.
