Cybersecurity has become a critical need in the 21st century as users, enterprises and governments increasingly rely upon networked applications for assessing information and making critical business decisions. There is a significant shortage of cyber security skill and expertise throughout the world. This program is designed to provide postgraduate students with a working knowledge of important security standards, techniques to exploit the current systems and networks, and technical depth in terms of expertise in the design of secure systems and also their application to real-world problems in different industry sectors.

Structure

160 unit program structure: Students will undertake 160 units of study, which is comprised of: 80 units of core courses, 60 units of directed courses and 20 units of elective courses.80 unit program structure: Students will undertake 80 units of core courses.

Standard entry requirements

  • 160 units (2 years): Bachelor Degree or higher in any discipline AND minimum 1 year relevant work experience. Applicants with relevant professional experience may be considered for up to 40 units of RPL (Recognition of Prior Learning)
  • 80 units (1 year): Bachelor Degree or higher in a relevant discipline
  • Related fields: computer science, software engineering, computer systems and information technology
  • Students who complete the UON Graduate Certificate in Cyber Security will receive 40 units of credit towards the Master of Cyber Security
  • Applicants who would like their professional qualifications and/or work experience to be considered need to provide certified copies of all relevant qualifications, a detailed CV and a statement of service or signed letters from employers confirming their role, duties and period of employment.
