Structure

  • This program requires the successful completion of: 10 units core – EDUC6010
  • One specialisation – 50-70 units depending on the specialisation chosen
  • Elective – 20 units. Elective must be utilised to complete the requirement of specialisation containing 60 or 70 units, or may be utilised to undertake an additional specified course where they are seeking accreditation of the KLA.

Subjects

  • Professional Learning: Advanced Studies in Education, Comparative Education, Early Childhood, ICT and Digital Learning, Instructional Leadership,and STEM. Teacher Retraining: Aboriginal Studies, Business Studies, Engineering, Geography, L2 (second language acquisition), Mathematics, Society and Culture, and TESOL.

Standard entry requirements

  • The Master of Education is an 80-unit postgraduate qualification for: Qualified teachers who wish to gain an additional teaching area in Mathematics or TESOL
  • Or qualified teachers who wish to undertake professional development
  • Admission is available for applicants who have one of the following qualifications or equivalent: Teacher Retraining - Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Education/Teaching
  • Or Bachelor Honours Degree in Education/Teaching
  • Or Bachelor Degree in Education/Teaching.Professional Development - Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma in Education/Teaching
  • Or Bachelor Honours Degree in Education/Teaching
  • Or Bachelor Degree in Education/Teaching
  • Relevant fields include education, teaching, training, tutoring, or equivalent.

Recognition

Some specialisations are recognised by the NSW Department of Education as teacher retraining programs in specific teaching areas (e.g. Mathematics, Engineering, TESOL).
