This scholarship was established in 2019 by Master Builder Allan Charles Smith, a fourth-generation builder, Life Member of the Master Builders Association of New South Wales, and Foundation Member and Fellow of the Institute of Arbitrators Australia. It is given in fond memory of his father, Malcolm Benaud Smith, to assist students studying full-time for a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building)(Honours) at the University of Newcastle within Australia. Malcolm Benaud Smith (1893-1964) was a third-generation Master Builder with family roots in the Manning, Hunter and Central Coast regions. He enlisted and served in two world wars. Malcolm was passionate about the building industry and gave encouragement and assistance to young people of his era, helping them to achieve excellence in their profession.

Eligibility Requirements

Be enrolled full-time in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year of a Bachelor of Construction Management (Building)(Honours) undergraduate degree at the University of Newcastle within Australia. GPA requirement, educational disadvantage, domestic student.
