This dual program will provide you with the skills to apply advanced mathematics to engineering fields, as well as the core background to enter a research-preparation honours degree in mathematics. You will graduate with exceptional skills, ready for an exciting career as an engineer. Depending on your choice of major you could work in a range of fields, from infrastructure and hospitals to energy and software. Studying the mathematics program in parallel will boost your engineering prowess and also open pathways to further higher study, such as honours in mathematics.
Standard entry requirements
- Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C)
- Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C)
- And one of Chemistry or Physics (Units 3 & 4, C). Both Chemistry and Physics are recommended subjects. Specialist Mathematics (Units 3 & 4, C) is also a recommended subject. Students studying Specialist Mathematics and both Physics and Chemistry will have increased flexibility in their studies. Students without Specialist Mathematics (or equivalent) may be required to undertake preparatory courses beyond the 80 units for the program and may not be able to complete the program in the minimum time frame without overloading or undertaking summer study.
