The Master of Bioinformatics is designed for graduates who wish to increase their technical and research skills in core areas of bioinformatics, update their knowledge of recent technologies and methodologies, and obtain practical laboratory and computational skills through immersion in a research laboratory. You'll select from over 20 courses, allowing you to tailor your studies to suit your interests and career goals. You'll also have the opportunity to complete an independent research project, which will increase your technical and research skills.

Structure

Complete 32 units for one of the following: 32 units for MBioinf - 2 year duration, or 32 units for MBioinf - 1.5 year duration (24 units of study and 8 units for prior learning), or 32 units for MBioinf - 1 year duration (16 units of study and 16 units for prior learning)

Standard entry requirements

2-year degree (32 units of study) To be eligible to complete the degree in 2 years full-time (or part-time equivalent), you'll need: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, including two courses in any combination of computer science, biology or statistics, or a graduate certificate or graduate diploma (or equivalent) in bioinformatics, orto have successfully completed at least 3 years of study towards an approved qualification at an overseas partner institution, with a formal pathway to the Master of Bioinformatics. You must have a grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in your previous qualification. 1.5-year degree (24 units of study) If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you can reduce the number of courses you need to complete and graduate in less time. To be eligible to complete the degree in 1.5 years full-time (or part-time equivalent), you'll need: a bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in science, information technology or engineering, including two courses in any combination of computer science, biology or statistics. 1-year degree (16 units of study) If you have relevant prior learning or experience, you can reduce the number of courses you need to complete and graduate in less time. To be eligible to complete the degree in 1 year full-time (or part-time equivalent), you'll need: a bachelor honours degree in science, information technology or engineering, with a major or minor (or equivalent volume of learning) in bioinformatics.
