Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours)

The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) takes students beyond programming and into the specialist world of software engineering. Students study written and verbal communication in an engineering context, and the cultural, social and ethical issues in the development and use of global technology. Students develop the cognitive skills for critical thinking, and the judgement to understand the technical and design elements of software engineering.

Entry Requirements:

Qualify for South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE) with competitive ATAR; or complete secondary education equivalent to SACE; complete International Baccalaureate Diploma; complete or partially complete higher education program; complete four Open Universities Australia courses at undergraduate level or above; complete Diploma level or above in Information Technology; qualify for special entry; complete a Foundation Studies program OR complete a specified professional course AND meet any pre-requisite and academic requirements. International students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained the required standards prior to admission.


144 units: 6 common introductory first year courses (36 units) in Information Technology; 6 intermediate courses (31.5 units); 8 advanced level courses (36 units) in software engineering; 1 elective (4.5 units); 18 unit industry-based project; research methods course (4.5 units); 3 honours level electives (13.5).
