The Graduate Certificate in Midwifery (Perinatal Mental Health) provides students with the practical skills and advanced knowledge needed to provide specialised care, supervision and advice to women prenatally, during pregnancy, labour, birth, and postnatally. Students advance their current midwifery qualifications by becoming specialised in this progressive field and gain a deeper understanding of postnatal depression and the impact it may have on mothers and their families. Students also develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to support women experiencing psychological distress and can apply this knowledge to care for women experiencing mental illness during the perinatal period. This qualification is offered online.

Entry Requirements:

Bachelor degree in Midwifery or equivalent qualification from a recognised higher education institution; or completed hospital based training as a Registered Midwife following registration as a general nurse. Applicants must also hold a Current Practising Certificate as a Registered Midwife with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
