A secondary education qualification such as the NSW Higher School Certificate (including national and international equivalents), OR approved higher education study, including approved preparation courses.

Recognition

Professional recognition: Accredited at the level of exercise science and exercise physiology by the National University Course Accreditation Program of Exercise and Sports Science Australia. Accredited exercise physiologists can provide exercise services under Medicare, WorkCover, private health insurance funds and the Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Practical experience: A minimum of 500 hours of integrated practical and clinical experience with a range of clients and settings, including gymnasiums, hospitals and on-site clinics. Placements may occur in holiday periods. At least one placement may take place outside of Sydney. Students will be responsible for additional costs, including accommodation and travel. Career opportunities: Examples include clinical exercise physiologist in health sectors including cardiac rehabilitation, healthy ageing, musculoskeletal rehabilitation, long-term rehabilitation following spinal cord injury, occupational rehabilitation.
