Bachelor of Pharmacy

University of Sydney

This program allows students to develop an insight into how drugs are developed and how medications affect the human body. It allows entry to a profession that focuses on improving the quality of people's lives. The first year is a foundation year in which students study biology and chemistry, and are introduced to pharmacy through foundation and social pharmacy studies. The remaining three years are devoted to higher levels of biomedical and pharmaceutical sciences together with specialised clinical pharmacy studies. Practical experience in a variety of clinical settings including hospital and community pharmacy is emphasised, particularly in the third and fourth years. The program includes the study of biology, chemistry and introductory pharmacy units in first year, with a progressive emphasis on practical pharmacy experience in subsequent years. Students may have the opportunity to undertake an international exchange in your final year. Applicants with a record of at least one year of full-time (or part-time eqv) tertiary study will need a very strong grade point average, close to distinction or higher.
